JINSA’s 32nd Annual Henry M. “Scoop” Jackson Distinguished Service Award & Presentation of the 2014 Grateful Nation Awards

JINSA is proud to announce that this year’s Henry M. “Scoop” Jackson Award will be presented to Rep. Mac Thornberry (TX-13), Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, on November 17 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC. This prestigious award enables JINSA to recognize and thank those leaders whose careers have been distinguished by the principle that is the foundation of JINSA’s work: the belief that the United States requires a strong military capability for both its own security and for that of trustworthy friends and allies. This was the cornerstone of the late Senator Jackson’s visionary policy and it guides JINSA today.
Rep. Thornberry currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, where he also leads the Subcommittee on Intelligence, Emerging Threats, and Capabilities. In addition to his role on the Armed Services Committee, Rep. Thornberry is also a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. In July 2013, he was recognized for his steady leadership and influence in national security by the publication POLITICO.
JINSA will also present The Grateful Nation Award the same evening to six young warriors recognized for having distinguished themselves through superior conduct in the War on Terrorism. Honorees are chosen by their respective service and come from the enlisted, noncommissioned officer and junior officer ranks. Honorees represent each of the five branches of the U.S. military and the U.S. Special Operations Command.
This exciting evening will take place on the evening of Monday November 17 in conjunction with JINSA’s Fall Leadership Meeting.
