New Webinar Series: Yom Kippur War at 50

The Yom Kippur War’s History, Lessons and Impact

October 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, when the Egyptian and Syrian militaries launched a coordinated attack on Israel on two fronts — the Sinai Peninsula in the south and the Golan Heights in the north. Israel would go on to survive the surprise attack by its Arab neighbors, but at great cost, with 2,656 Israeli soldiers being killed in battle.

The impact of events leading up to the war, during the conflict, and in the post-war period have had a lasting influence on the Middle East until today, with profound lessons for policy makers and analysts in both Israel and the United States.

Join us for a discussion with Professor Uri Bar-Joseph and JINSA Senior Fellow John Hannah about the high-stakes geopolitics that surrounded the Yom Kippur War of 1973. The discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A.

This October, JINSA is launching a series of webinars marking this important anniversary, and discussing the history lessons and impact of this conflict.
