Makovsky, a Churchill scholar and former Defense Department official, has been named CEO and executive director of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, which was established in 1976 to promote dialogue between the Pentagon and pro-Israel advocacy groups. Today, JINSA is a secular organization that brings together the U.S. and Israeli defense communities by, among other things, arranging for retired Pentagon brass to meet with Israeli officials.
