John Hannah is a Senior Counselor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, where he focuses on U.S. strategy. He is also a Senior Advisor at JINSA’s Gemunder Center where he serves as a member of JINSA’s Iran Policy Project and Eastern Mediterranean Policy Project.
Hannah served in senior foreign policy positions for both Democratic and Republican administrations over the last 20 years. From 2005-2009, he was chief foreign policy advisor in Vice President Dick Cheney’s Office of National Security Affairs, after serving as Deputy National Security Advisor for the Middle East for the Vice President from 2001-2005. Mr. Hannah also served as a senior advisor and speechwriter for Secretary of State Warren Christopher during the Clinton administration, and was a senior member of the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff under George H.W. Bush
Michael Makovsky, PhD is JINSA President & CEO. He is a U.S. national security expert, and has worked extensively on U.S. policy towards Iran’s nuclear program, the Middle East, and the intersection of international energy markets and politics with U.S. national security.
