Emergency!! Read Fast and Act
For the past several weeks, the PLO has been talking about its plan to obtain “Non-Voting Member” status at the United Nations – to replace their Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status. This, according to Israel’s UN Ambassador Dore Gold, would be a violation of agreements between Israel and the PLO/PA about unilateral changes. Furthermore, according to Ambassador Gold, Non-Voting Member status is equivalent to the status of a state that is not required to pay dues.

THE PLO/PA IS NOT A STATE. THE UN SHOULD NOT TREAT IT AS IF IT IS. THE OSLO ACCORDS REQUIRE ISRAEL AND THE PALESTINIANS TO NEGOTIATE THE ISSUES THAT SEPRATE THEM. To the extent that the Oslo Accords have any remaining validity in the face of continuing and egregious Palestinian violations, they are valid only if the Palestinians are held to their obligations.
JINSA’s sources indicate that the Palestinians have arranged to have a vote in the UN LATE TODAY on their change of status. The U.S. will likely be opposed to the vote, but it is unclear how much effort they will put into that opposition. Help us make a difference—

Register your opposition as an American citizen to any change in status for the PLO at the United Nations and insist that the U.S. government demand any motion for change in PLO status be withdrawn.
Congress it not in session. You might call the office of your Congressman and Senator and try to talk to a relevant staff member. This, however, is clearly secondary to informing the Administration that there is opposition from American citizens to this cynical ploy by the PLO to exploit the animosity and anti-Israel sentiment in the US and to once again circumvent the Oslo Accords.
Call the JINSA office if you get any interesting feedback from the government.
THANKS!!
