COL. Henry (Butch) Kievenaar, USA (ret.)

Mr. Henry “Butch” A. Kievenaar, III is a 1985 Distinguished Military Graduate from George Mason University and was commissioned in Armor. He later received a Master’s degree in Military Arts and Sciences. His professional military education includes the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Airborne School, Combined Arms and Services Staff School and U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

Mr. Kievenaar’s assignments include duty as a Tank Platoon Leaders, Support Platoon Leader, and Battalion S-4, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor Regiment at Erlangen, Germany; Division Ammunition Officer, 1st Armored Division at Katterbach, Germany; Company D Commander, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor Regiment at Erlangen and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; Company C Commander, 2d Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment at Erlangen; Maintenance Trainer, Company Team Trainer, and Tactical Operations Center Trainer, Cobra Team, Operations Group, National Training Center at Fort Irwin California; Battalion S-3 Operations Officer, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 3d Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia; Brigade S-3 Operations Officer, 2d Brigade, 3d Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado and Operation Desert Fox; Chief Armor Branch, Enlisted Personnel Management Division, Personnel Command at Alexandria, Virginia; Action Officer Global Operations, Readiness, National Military Command Center, J-3, the Joint Staff at Washington, D.C.; Squadron Commander, 3d Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Carson, Colorado and Operation Iraqi Freedom I; Division G-3 Operations Officer, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas; G-3 Multi-National Division-Baghdad, Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07; Brigade Commander, 2d Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado and Operation Iraqi Freedom 08-10; Executive Officer for the Commanding General Forces Command at Fort McPherson, Georgia; Executive Officer for the Commanding General United Nations Command, Republic of Korea – United States Combined Forces Command and United States Forces Korea, Seoul, Korea; the III Corps and Fort Hood Chief of Staff at Fort Hood, Texas; and the Joint IED Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) Chief of the Director’s Strategy Group. After retiring from Service, Mr. Kievenaar returned in a civilian capacity to serve as JIDO’s Chief of Staff from June 15-Oct 17. He most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Jewish Institute for the National Security of America (JINSA). Currently is set to begin working for Raytheon as Director of Business Development for Mission Support Division, Platform Systems.
