Over just 12 days in June, Israel’s Operation Rising Lion and the United States’s Operation Midnight Hammer achieved remarkable military successes against Iran’s nuclear and military programs that will shape the Middle East for years to come. Yet, the campaign was even more operationally and tactically impressive than has been publicly reported.

Based on exclusive briefings during a recent fact-finding trip to Israel, JINSA’s forthcoming report, Operation Rising Lion: Insights from Israel’s 12-Day War Against Iran, reveals previously unreleased details about the urgency of the Iranian threat, the development of Israel’s military planning, and Operation Rising Lion’s achievements. The report also assesses how the United States can build on the unprecedented U.S.-Israel battlefield cooperation by strengthening the bilateral relationship and accelerating pressure on the Iranian terror axis.

JINSA held a webinar featuring the report’s co-authors to discuss their perspectives and the report’s findings. The panel featured former Deputy Commander of U.S. European Command and former Director of Strategic Planning and Policy at U.S. Air Force Headquarters Gen Charles Wald, USAF (ret.), a JINSA Distinguished Fellow; Former Deputy Commander of U.S. Central Command VADM Mark Fox, USN (ret.), a 2018 JINSA Generals and Admirals Program Participant; and former Director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency LTG Robert Ashley, USA (ret.), a 2021 JINSA Generals and Admirals Program Participant.

JINSA’s Vice President for Policy Blaise Misztal moderated the conversation.
