Conversation with Tomáš Pojar



JINSA will host an exclusive conversation with Tomáš Pojar, National Security Advisor to the Government of the Czech Republic at our Washington, DC office. The Czech Republic is a valuable ally of the United States, strong proponent of European security, a major contributor to Ukraine’s defense, as well as a strong supporter of Israel. To discuss all these topics, we will host Amb. Pojar for a 45-minute public event.

Amb. Tomáš Pojar is a Czech diplomat, security and European affairs analyst, and academic. In January 2023, he became the first-ever National Security Advisor to the Government of the Czech Republic. Between 2010 and 2014, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Israel. Prior to that, Pojar held various high-level positions at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Minister for Security and EU Affairs, and for Bilateral Relations (with European States). Between 1997 and 2005, he led the non-governmental organization People in Need. He studied political science at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, and diplomacy and strategy, and counter-terrorism studies at IDC Herzliya.

Tomáš Pojar

Tomáš Pojar serves as an advisor for national security in the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. He also held the position of Deputy Minister for European Affairs of the Czech Republic up until August 2023. In 2005 he joined the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served as Deputy Minister for Bilateral Relations and then as the First Deputy Minister for Security Matters, EU Affairs, and Bilateral Relations with European States. He was the Czech Ambassador to Israel from 2010 to 2014.

Michael Makovsky, PhD is President and CEO of the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), which he joined in 2013. A U.S. national security expert, he has worked extensively on U.S. policy toward Iran’s nuclear program, Israel, and the broader Middle East, as well as the intersection of international energy markets and politics with U.S. national security.
