In announcing Operation Epic Fury, President Donald Trump urged the Iranian people: “Now is the time to seize control of your destiny, and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach. This is the moment for action. Do not let it pass.” Similarly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appealed to the Iranian people: “this is your opportunity to establish a new and free Iran. Take your destiny into your own hands.”
What happens next is far from certain. Can the regime hold out as strikes continue and pressure mounts? Will Iranians again rise up? JINSA hosted a webinar examining the internal dynamics shaping Iran’s response to war and assessing the prospects for regime change.
The webinar featured Mehdi Parpanchi, executive editor of Iran International, and Elliott Abrams, JINSA Iran Policy Project Member and former U.S. Special Representative for Iran. The conversation was moderated by JINSA Vice President for Policy Blaise Misztal.
