Watch Webinar – The Assad Regime Falls
The stunning and rapid collapse of Syria’s ruling Assad regime in recent days is the latest domino to fall in Iran’s regional axis, further weakening Tehran’s strategic deck of cards. The departure of Bashar al-Assad marks the end of decades of his regime and that of his predecessor, Hafez al-Assad, brutalizing the Syrian people and bankrolling terrorism. Though al-Assad losing his grip on power spells bad news for his chief benefactors, Iran and Russia, the broader regional implications and Syria’s future remain murky.
JINSA hosted a webinar examining what the Assad regime’s disintegration means for Israel, the United States, and the broader region featuring member of JINSA’s Iran Policy Project and Gaza Futures Task Force Amb. Elliott Abrams, who additionally serves as Chairman for the Vandenberg Coalition and Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies at the Council of Foreign Relations, and JINSA’s Randi & Charles Wax Senior Fellow John Hannah.
JINSA President & CEO Michael Makovsky, PhD moderated this discussion.
