ADM Jonathan W. Greenert, USN (ret.) Admiral Jonathan W. Greenert, U.S. Navy (Ret.) completed studies in nuclear engineering and entered the nuclear submarine force. Subsequently, he was certified to operate, manage and supervise naval nuclear reactor systems. His Navy career has given him the opportunity to serve as: Chief of Naval Operations (CNO, 2011-2015); Vice Chief of Naval Operations (Deputy CEO/COO); Commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet; Commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet (Asia-Pacific); Chief Financial Officer, U.S. Navy; Deputy Comptroller, Dept. of the Navy; Deputy Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet; and Commander, U.S. Forces Micronesia. |
VADM John M. Bird, USN (ret.) VADM Bird reported to the Pentagon and OPNAV staff as the Director of the Navy Staff following his tour at the 7th Fleet. As a career submarine officer, VADM Bird has served on fast attack and ballistic missile submarines in both the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets. From July 2008 to September 2010 he was the 46th Commander of the U.S. 7th Fleet. Following a two year assignment as the 39th commander of Submarine Group 7, commander, Task Force 74, and commander Task Force 54 in Yokosuka, Japan, VADM Bird assumed duties as the Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. |
BG (Res.) Assaf Orion Brigadier general (Res.) Assaf Orion joined the INSS in late 2015 as a senior research fellow and Director of the Institute’s research program on Israel-China, following 32 years of IDF service. He is currently heading the INSS international research group, after directing the BDS and de-legitimization program, while participating in projects and programs on Syria, Lebanon and Israel-Palestinians, with a special focus on peacekeeping operations. |
Blaise Misztal Blaise Misztal is the Vice President for Policy at JINSA. His research interests include Iran and its nuclear program, U.S.-Turkey relations, countering extremism, and strategic competition. |
