Trump Wins: What it Means for the Middle East
President-elect Donald Trump will be returning to the White House at a critical moment for the Middle East. Iran is on the precipice of nuclear weapons capability and expected to attack Israel directly for the third time in seven months. Meanwhile, Israel is still engaged in combat operations against Iranian proxies Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, looking to the United States to provide the armaments it needs to enable its success. Gulf Arab countries have been waiting out the conflict and hedging their bets, with Saudi Arabia in particular entertaining both normalization with Israel and closer ties with Iran.
Join JINSA for a discussion of how a new Trump administration might address these challenges and what its policies toward Israel, Iran, and the Middle East might look like. The conversation will feature member of JINSA’s Iran Policy Project and Gaza Futures Task Force Amb. Elliott Abrams and JINSA Fellow Gabriel Noronha. The discussion will be moderated by JINSA’s President & CEO Michael Makovsky, PhD.
